WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME A PROFESSIONAL (Part one)--- By BELLO ABDULLAH (H.A)

WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME A PROFESSIONAL  (Part One) The word “ professional ”, usually shortened as pro, is not an alien word in the world today. It, arguably, is one of the most common and most misused words in our everyday Life. You often hear sentences like “that guy is very good, he’s a professional”, “that doctor is a pro, he’s really sound”. A person who is regarded to be a professional is one who has acquired, accumulated and displayed a sound knowledge, experience and expertise in the discharge of a particular field of work. He is a person with whom a high level of trust and standard is placed upon. A professional is not perfect, neither is he omniscient – he makes mistakes (though very seldom). However, he constantly applies due diligence and avoid negligence and this makes it possible for him to continuously churn out brilliant expertise in the performance of his work. In our world today, we have professionals in various fields and careers – engineers, lawyers, artists, sportsm

PERCEPTUAL DIFFERENCES - BY MUIS A. MUMEEN (MANYX)

Some months ago, I met a man on my way coming back from work, very late in the evening. He said to me "My brother, the only secured job in Nigeria is being a security personnel". Stunningly, I looked at him and nodded in agreement just to acknowledged his assertion. He could be right or wrong, I don't know. So I said to myself, I don't even know this man. We've not even had any prior conversation that could prompt such statement. Because of time, I couldn't ask him the question of 'why' before we departed. But I believe his judgement to be that of his perception and the way he chose to interpret it. In our journey of life, we will keep meeting different set of peoples, some as friends, acquaintances or total strangers with a completely different upbringing, background, behavior, belief, purpose et.al. These different features of people will continually make it possible to have different perceptions from people about things in general. Part of the imp

STEPS INVOLVED IN THE CALCULATION OF CHI-SQUARE(χ2)

STEPS INVOLVED IN THE CALCULATION OF CHI-SQUARE (χ2): Step 1: Formulation of Null and Alternative Hypothesis; one being independent and the other being dependent. For example: H0: Null Hypothesis (Categories that are independent) H1: Alternative Hypothesis (Categories that are dependent) Step 2: Derive your Expected Values for all the cells in the Observed Table respectively. Using the following formula: Expected Values= Row Total multiply by Column Total divided by Total Sample Size. (See picture below) This formula will be applied on each cell in our Observed Values to arrive at our Expected Values. Note: Total Sample Size or grand total is usually denoted using 'n'. Step 3: Construct your Chi-Square Tables using the Chi-Square formula. (See pictures below) Step 4: Obtain your Chi-Square value using the Chi-Square Critical Value Table.(picture below) Compare your step 3 answer with the value you obtained from the Chi-Square Tabl

CREATIVE THOUGHTS: Get Motivated!!!

GET MOTIVATED . Every good actions we took in our life is usually triggered by being motivated.  Motivation can  either be internally or externally derived and sometimes both. Internal motivation is compulsory for every living souls while external motivation isn't but neccessary. Internal motivation is created by your passion and willingness to do a particular thing(s), this type of motivation is what drives you on your daily life. The absence of internal motivation brings about low self esteem and confidence. External motivations can be from family, friends, mentors, books, environment et.al. Remember, external motivation is not that essential as to internal motivation. External motivation simply serves as a support to our internal motivation. Getting motivated give us edges in whatever it is we are trying to get done.  Without being motivated, there tends to be unrealistic boredom in the conduct of our daily activities. What are you still waiting for... Get motivated.

CREATIVE THOUGHTS: Act now!!!

You can only act where you are now, not where you have been and not where you have not been. You can't act yesterday for yesterday was a past. You can't act tommorow for tommorow is in future. You can only act today for today is the present. What you do today will one day become a past likewise determine what you will do in future. Take not lightly any opportunity given to you today for many people wishes to be where you are but was denied the chance.   Make something possible today, never procastinate on something of relevance to you. Act now!

CREATIVE THOUGHT: Probability

The probability of success and failure. The probability of success and failure is just one. The choice of whether to let the proportion of success exceeds failure is now yours. It's only a weak mind that dreams about failure, strong mind sees success even when the chances are thin. The major reason for setting goals is to achieve it and that is success but sometimes not all the goal set is achievable. The interesting part of it is that all goal setter always dream to accomplish their goals even when they know their chances of losing. Do you ever think of  football matches? Even when the opposition knows they are losing they still play with the hope of winning and eventually they might win. Sometimes you can be in a position of winning but when your mind is not ready to win you eventually lost. Likewise, you can be in a position of losing but when your mind perceive success         you eventually won. Don't plan with the mindset of losing, think success. Most of all hu
